It’s not uncommon for some online services or memberships to make it exceedingly difficult for users to unsubscribe or quit. The prevailing business theory behind that was apparently meant to dissuade consumers from going through with that final step. Now, the Federal Trade Commission has announced a new rule that is meant to make it much easier for people to cancel those services.

The FTC’s Click To Cancel rule calls for sellers to streamline the process that lets customers end their subscriptions or enrollment. Whether that will work in practice remains to be seen, but it’s a positive step forward for those who have been calling for the change.

“Too often, businesses make people jump through endless hoops just to cancel a subscription,” said Commission Chair Lina M. Khan in a statement. “The FTC’s rule will end these tricks and traps, saving Americans time and money. For anyone worried about getting stuck in the mandatory puzzle-solving stages, the developer has a novel solution for these sections of the game.

As design director Jens Andersson explained, players can do first-person shooting with Indy’s camera to gain hints that’ll allow them to complete ancient puzzles. This will be available through the game’s “Adventure” difficulty setting, which reduces the challenge of completing these mysteries.

The next Lord of the Rings movie, the animated film War of the Rohirrim, releases in theaters this December, and while there is no trailer yet, there are a few images and a new one dropped Wednesday. The new image has Héra Hammerhand, daughter of Helm Hammerhand charging away on her horse.

Along with the image, legendary filmmaker Kenji Kamiyama, who is directing the first anime Lord of the Rings project, confirms that Hela will be leading her troops against her enemies, a first in a Tolkien adaptation.

Unverified images of what’s claimed to be the Nintendo Switch successor have appeared online, revealing a console that isn’t a radical departure from the current Switch console design. The images suggest that the Switch will sport a bigger eight-inch screen, Joy-Cons that use a magnetic attachment, and significantly improved hardware in comparison to the current model.

Ubisoft has delayed two of its upcoming games. As part of the company’s earnings announcement, the French publisher revealed that the mobile games Rainbow Six Mobile and The Division Resurgence are no longer expected to release in the company’s fiscal year 2025. That means they won’t be released until some time after March 31, 2025.

The development teams are using the additional development time to “ensure that these experiences deliver on expectations.” Ubisoft added that it’s hoping the extra time can help its teams “optimize” each game’s key performance indicators “in the context of a demanding yet very large market.”
