Harrison Ford On Why It's "Silly" For Actors To Dismiss Marvel Movies

Actor Harrison Ford makes his MCU debut in the 2025 film Captain America: Brave New World as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. In a new interview, the legendary actor talked about how actors are “silly” to not at least consider being in a Marvel movie during their career.”I understand the appeal of other kinds of films besides the kind we made in the ’80s and ’90s. I don’t have anything general to say about it. It’s the condition our condition is in, and things change and morph and go on,” Ford told GQ. “We’re silly if we sit around regretting the change and don’t participate. I’m participating in a new part of the business that, for me at least, I think is really producing some good experiences for an audience. I enjoy that.”A number of actors and directors have spoken out to criticize Marvel movies or say they want nothing to do with them. Recently, four-time Oscar-nominated actor Saoirse Ronan said thanks but no thanks to Marvel, while Martin Scorsese has made his feelings known about Marvel. Jamie Lee Curtis, meanwhile, recently criticized Marvel and then backtracked. In Brave New World, Ross becomes Red Hulk, and this required Ford to perform motion-capture to become the character. Ford previously told Variety that signing up to do this “took being an idiot for money” and “not caring.””I don’t mean to disparage it,” Ford said. “I’m just saying you have to do certain things that normally your mother would not wsports bettingant you to do–or your acting coach, if you had one. But it’s fun, and I enjoyed it. I had a great time, and I’m delighted at the response that we got with the trailer.”Brave New World releases in February 2025. Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) directs the film, which also stars Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, and Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns.Brave New World is one of multiple new MCU movies coming to theaters in 2025.
